About 3 months ago, we were given the opportunity to film this project through the Soroptimist International Batangas Premier. They wanted to capture the story of Rochelle, a Live Your Dream Awards Recipient of their organization. We were primarily given the basics: a sample video of a previous winner, what to shoot, interview questions, photo and video guide, and a bulleted overview of Rochelle’s story. Having watched a number of documentaries on TV, we were expecting this project to be easy enough to accomplish since we already had a guide. But we were mistaken.
The technical part of the shoot was easy but the interview part was the hardest. How do you interview a person who went through so much pain and hardship in life yet still stands proud and is continuously pursuing her dreams? We had to look away once Rochelle started crying; blaming the dust which got inside our eyes. We do not always shoot documentaries like these – in fact, this is the first time we had done something like this and it was a real eye-opener for us. And all along, we were complaining of the little things when there are people who experienced so much more.
We are very proud to share this video with you – a break from the happy, joyful weddings and events we were used to.
